Here's Benny's #2142 Yucca sp. [gloriosa forma robusta] "Hæstrupvej" x Yucca flaccida [forma glaucescens] X # 2091-2092-2093 filamentosa x rostrata. I 'think' this will be a winner, especially for northern gardeners in wet climates. NOTE the horizontal to slightly hanging seed pods suggesting there is a lot of gloriosa genes in these. The pod with the red tie is #2142 x 'constricta x filamentosa'.

Your Yuccas look better than great, they are fantastic, especially the Yucca filamentosa x rostrata "Behan #2". It is really sad, that my specimens were killed their first winter up here :-( I will have to ask Horst or Jost for a piece of a rhizome :-)

I have other hybrids with the same Yucca rostrata as the pollen donor here is one of them:

Yucca "karlsruhensis type 2" x rostrata.


This one is very blue, but since the seedparent has a short flower stalk, it will most likely not be anything like those in your garden.

Here is another one:
Yucca flaccida [f. glaucescens] x rostrata (pollen from Ruud Wouterson)

It's much more green, but will probably get a large flower stalk.

The hybrid Yucca "karlsruhensis type 2" x rostrata has the thickest base of any of our Yuccas. The pollen parent is in this case very dominant, as Tim's plants with another seed parent also show very clearly.

The Yucca "karlsruhensis type 2" is a very small Yucca, no more than 5-6 cm at the base as maximum, it can be seen here in this thread:

There is no sign of the parentage from The Yucca "karlsruhensis type 2" at all in this hybrid, it will be interesting to see how the flowers of the hybris is looking.

Yes this years fila x rostrata bloom (form#2) is slightly larger than the fila x rostrata (form #1) that bloomed last season. Both are great forms.

Your Y Karl #2 x rostrata is a beauty. It sure has a lot of rostrata genes in the leaves. It will be interesting to see the bloom :)

I thought your son would like the batman stamps that why I placed 3 different stamps on the envelope. I think there are 5 different stamps in the batman series :)

Yes it is strange that a pollen donor can pass so many genes to the seed producing parent. I hope this trait continues with the pollen from your fila x rostrata!

Yes, it is indeed interesting why the rostrata genes are so dominant. The pollen from Mark van Zwet's Yucca floribunda is also quite dominant, do I think, I will have to check to be sure.

How tall was the flower stalk on #2142 Yucca sp. [gloriosa forma robusta] "Hæstrupvej" x Yucca flaccida [forma glaucescens] ? And how tall was #2147 Yucca sp. [gloriosa forma robusta] "Hæstrupvej" x Yucca 'Karlsruhensis type 2'? Do you have seed podst forming on the #2147? and are they hanging too?

When Aleksander saw the envelope in the refrigerator, he asked "Why are the envelope with the Batman stamps in refrigerator?".

I will measure the blooms of 2142 and 2147 for you. 2142 is taller, perhaps 6feet. 2147 is smaller perhaps 4 feet

Yes I do have seed pods on 2147. They are erect. Seeds pods are everywhere this year. I have really learned a lot over the years how to minimize damage from the beetles. Beetles come out and attack the flowers just before sunset. That's when I spray to kill them. I still loose lots of blooms to beetles but I'm getting seed pods now

I will try to send more pollen too. The last few nights produced great pollen. Much better than the nights I was collecting for you. Tonight it rained so no pollen and tomorrow I have a night meeting but Thursday night I will attempt to collect 'good' pollen. Your son will get some more batman stamps too :)

hier mal eine Benny-Hybride, die ich bei ihm 2011 gekauft habe. Das Foto entstand bei Benny im Garten. Er hatte eine Gruppe mit älteren Hybriden, die völlig sich selbst überlassen und ungeschützt in Töpfen den
Winter überstanden. Diese Pflanze hier fiel mir auf, da sie mit ihren Wurzeln schon aus dem Topf herauswuchs. Ein Schild war nicht mehr vorhanden.
Hier mal ein Blick auf die Elefantenwurzeln:


wie nicht anders zu erwarten, hat sich die Yucca bei mir bestens eingelebt. Vermutlich ist es eine Glauca/Filamentosa-Hybride, die in diesem Sommer erstmals geblüht hat.
