Spontaneous hybrid created by moths in 2011 in Tim Behan garden - Y. filata Big Mama x Y. reverchonii-thompsoniana. Seeds were germinated at beginning of 2013.

Yes, they have serrated leaf edges but not so strong like Y.reverchonii.

thanks for the update photo. Your specimen sure has a lot of reverchonii-thompsoniana genes in it! After hearing some of the seedlings of Y. filata 'big mama' have the reverchonii-thompsoniana genes, I germinated about 50 seeds and only 4+/- had the rever-thomp serrated leaf edge (that's less than 10%). I now have several growing in the garden too. Thanks for 'discovering' this!

I'm going to have TONS of seed pods this season. I'm learning how to kill the beetles so I get more seed pods. There was lots of early beetle damage but almost no beetles now.

Last night more pollination! This is Y. flaccida x 'reverchonii-thompsoniana' pollen getting ready for Benny's Y. fila x rostrata in bloom.

what's the leaf length of your Y. filata 'big mama' X reverchonii-thompsoniana?

Hello Tim,

At the moment leaves are cca 40-50cm long or 10-20 cm longer then leaves of Y.reverchonii and width is approximately 1-1,5(2) cm. It's visible on second picture differences between Y.filata x Y.reverchonii-thompsoniana and Y.reverchonii leaves. I will take precise measures next time when I visit the garden at the weekend house.

I hope the leaves will get even longer. Big Mama leaves (when in full glory) are nearly 1m long.

I believe it will grow even longer leaves. I was take measurements and leaves are 50 cm long and on the widest point is 2 cm wide. Interesting thing is that serration slowly disappear, so I assume is Y. filata Big Mama genes become dominant.

That's a nice specimen. Even though the serrations are diminishing, the Yucca clearly has some Rupicoliae Series genes. Let's see what happens with time.
