what an amazing Yucca. It's really a pity it never bloomed until now. This hybrid is missing in my garden . What is the plant on the right side behind the Y. filamentosa x glauca? It looks so natural due to the old leaves covering the stem.
I dug up the old order form. Seed from 2000 and I germinated it on May 8, 2001. My mistake, its Y. glauca x filamentosa (FH 1181.81) not Y. filamentosa x glauca. I believe the trunk is so tall since it has NEVER bloomed. I'm not sure why there are no blooms, likely due to the glauca genes since glauca is a very shy bloomer in our climate.
I've never seen a Y. karlruhensis with a large trunk. Maybe you have something very special Please keep us informed when this yucca is blooming. The seedlist from Fritz is historically.

I think the tall trunks are due to it never blooming. What would Y. filamentosa look like if it didn't bloom for 15 years???? It too would have short trunks.
That may well be that the Yucca glauca genes have the bloom suppressed. Fritz writes the number without fh, that shows me that another the creater of this Hybrid was... but who?
Did you notice 1181.81A karlsruhensis (flac/fila x glauca) appears to be pollenated by glauca but 1181.81 was pollenated by filamentosa?
In my climate glauca blooms earlier than filamentosa. Is this true in your climate? Using filamentosa pollen on glauca would be more difficult than using glauca pollen on filamentosa. That's why I always assumed my Yucca was filamentosa x glauca.
Hi Tim, I dont know, with me no yucca has flowered ... all of which are still too small... In any case this is a wonderful plant. So how many would like to see their yuccas in their garden. Hardy
