These seeds started to germinate inside the pod........this is the first time for me. About 20 seeds germinated and I planted them up although it is very late in the season and will likely die before next spring. I wanted to see if baccata was the pollen donor.
Some of the germinating seeds.
This batch of seed pods were pollenated by the Yucca moths.......not me! Notice the holes in the seeds.
curious to see this. I just had something similar with seeds of Trachycarpus fortunei I harvested in Italy during a business trip. A few of the seeds where already germinating but died several days after I putted them into the heated green house.
It's bad to know that they won't survive the winter time.
too bad about the trachy seeds. I hope a few of these gloriosa x seeds will germinate but it's hard to keep them alive through the winter when so small. Only time will tell.
