I placed a in/out temperature probe at my Yucca carnerosana. It appears the protection is providing a extra 1/2 zone in temperature increase. The protection is 2 layers of 4 mil plastic sheeting with a string of small christmas lights.

Temperature at local school at 9pm:


The local school is reading the same temperature as my probe so I guess I can rely on the school's temperatures!

Low last night of -15C (+5.4F) but inside the Yucca carnerosana protection the low was -9.7C (+14.6F).

how hardy do you think the mexican carnerosanas are?

I don 't know the possibility to cultivate Y. carnerosana in the garden in Germany but with me in the Hetherlands it gives much of problems. In the winter they must stay dry, dry and dry but the humidity is too high here. So i have them in containers. Foto's from my journey through Mexico.
